Got up at 5 a.m. today to knock it out because I have plans tonight. So, it wasn't that bad! It was by far the best of my three Week 4 runs, which encourages me. Feeling okay about moving on. As a little icing on the cake, the scale finally moved. I think I'm over the plateau period, and since the running cranks up now (20 minutes at the end of week 5!) I think I'm good to go.
I start to hate it at some point and have to have this silly conversation with myself that goes something like this:
Are you having trouble breathing or something? Well, no, I'm breathing fine.
Are your legs killing you, is that it? Well, I mean, I definitely FEEL them but are they killing me? No not really I guess.
Then what is the problem here? Why do you think you need to stop? Umm, because this is hard?
Yeah shut it and keep running.
So, yay! It's Friday, I finished week 4, I had one of the best weeks ever with Sarah DESPITE the unwanted visitors in her hair, I start guitar lessons on Monday which I'm happy about, I've got fun plans with friends tonight...life is good.

that's great! but when i read your post my response was simply a "sigh" . . . for myself. i got up this morning, knowing i am going to start week 3 today and my lower back is just bothering me. like, i made a face when i got out of bed. and then another face when i bent down to pick up the dog bowls. we'll have to see how it goes. maybe it will right itself by the time i go run today. i hope so.
good work clare. i'm jealous.
Is your lower back just tight and stiff? Or is it more painful than that? I have some trouble with mine and my trainer claims it's because my hamstrings and bum are too tight and he wants me to do the foam roller on them. Which of course I never do, but it really does feel great. Just a thought. Maybe you should see someone about the back. No point in making this any harder than it should be!
not sure? it just hurts when i get up or bend over. what is the foam roller? i've had trouble with my lower back before - like couldn't move. but since then it's been only occasional pain.
It's a, well, a foam roller. A big piece of cylindrical foam. You sit on it or lay on it, whatever, to get it to the muscle, then you roll on your body weight pushes your muscle onto it and it kind of massages. It's one of those hurts so good type things. This shows you some of the things you do, and it also made me giggle a little - http://www.performbetter.com/catalog/assets/Exercisesheets/PDF/FoamRoller.pdf
btw - i think your little internal dialogue is funny.
